This classic little Gerbera gets beautiful double white, yellow and pink flowers perfect for any garden. A interesting thing with this Gerbera is that there can be a lot of colour variation between plants.

These Gerberas are the old-fashioned variety which are tougher, clump more and need less water than the new variety.

Having originated from South Africa Gerberas grow best in warm climates where some will even stay evergreen.

In cold climates Gerberas will go dormant over the Winter period before bouncing back during Spring. Gerberas need a full sun position that is sheltered from strong winds and frost.

They need excellent drainage in the soil, particularly in colder climates.

Gerberas grow very well in pots clumped together within beds and borders.

Like most plants, Gerberas grow best in fertile soil. For pots, use a good quality potting mix.

Gerberas are susceptible to fungal disease. Inspect your plants regularly and remove diseased leaves and spent flower stalks. Do not cut the stems as this leaves a raw, vulnerable surface.

Instead reach down to the base of the leaf or flower stem and gently twist it out with your fingertips. If you have to cut, leave a 3-4cm stub which you should twist out as soon as it dies down. Have a bag of some type ready and place them directly in to it. Seal the bag and bin it.
